Heading outside the city limits, visitors and residents enjoy the natural beauty of Scharnberg Park, maintained by the Clay County Conservation Board.  The 45-acre park features a 15 acre pond, 63 modern campsites with electricity, water, showers, cable TV and wireless internet.  Three beautiful cabins are also available year-round. 	Spencer boasts two beautiful and challenging 18 hole golf courses.  The Spencer Municipal Golf course in south Spencer now includes a spacious new clubhouse featuring light snacks and your favorite beverage. The Spencer Golf and Country Club is an award winning Championship Course that is listed as one of the top 10 in Iowa.  The Spencer Golf and Country Club hosts the Northwest Amateur Golf Tournament each year. Whatever your favorite sport, you can play it in Spencer.  From youth baseball and softball to grade school and college soccer, it's time to "play ball" in Spencer. This two-acre complex contains two water slides, a children's play area, sand volleyball, five lanes for lap swimming, and plenty of lounge chairs for your relaxation.
